The ASTAR and EDX maps are complementary.
ASTAR allows for the identification of crystallized regions (phases and orientations). By combining the raw results with the quality of the indexing and/or the reliability, a highly representative map is obtained.
EDX provides information only on the presence or absence of chemical elements, not on their bonds. Among other things, this allows us to identify which elements are present in the amorphous regions.
The example is based on ZnO nanowires coated with CrCuO.
