CMTC

Grenoble INP and its academic laboratories have joined their efforts to organize and drive an academic characterization platform called CMTC (Consortium des Moyens Technologiques Communs). Created in 1977 as part of Grenoble-INP, CMTC is a platform for physico-chemical and microstructural characterization. CMTC meets the needs of the "Materials community" and characterizes a large number of materials : metals, polymers, oxides, semiconductors, magnetic materials...It plays a key role in providing scientific and technical support for research and training.

CMTC has 12 state-of-the-art characterization equipment that are available to academic laboratories within Grenoble INP and to companies

Around 15 engineers and technicians work together to make CMTC useful and successful. The equipment is either used in open access after training, or with the help of a highly-qualified engineer

CMTC offers a range of comprehensive solutions to serve the characterization needs of its partners and clients, by:

  • Providing characterization services required for research programmes carried out by Grenoble-INP and its partners,
  • Developing know-how, competencies and new characterization techniques,
  • Providing training in characterization techniques
  • Offering access to characterization resources after training,
  • Providing characterization services to other organisations, including companies

This platform has a long history of sharing facilities. With thirty years of experience in the field of material science characterization, the CMTC platform has acquired a strong reputation for scientific expertise and quality service. It provides public and industrial laboratories with access to high quality facilities under various conditions of use. More than 20 public laboratories and 200 users are using the CMTC facilities regularly. The CMTC platform also provides services to more than 100 companies.
